-John Michell (25 de diciembre de 1724 - 29 de abril de 1793) fue un filósofo de la naturaleza y geólogo inglés, cuya labor abarcó una amplia gama de temas, desde la astronomía a la geología, la óptica y la gravitación.

-Stephen William Hawking (Oxford, Inglaterra, 8 de enero de 1942) es un físico teórico, astrofísico, cosmólogo y divulgador científico británico. Sus trabajos más importantes hasta la fecha han consistido en aportar, junto con Roger Penrose, teoremas respecto a las singularidades espaciotemporales en el marco de la relatividad general, y la predicción teórica de que los agujeros negros emitirían radiación, lo que se conoce hoy en día como radiación de Hawking (o a veces radiación Bekenstein-Hawking).
